Megan Collins is an artist inspired by her lifelong, intimate contact with two oceans… the stormy Atlantic of her childhood, and the beautiful Pacific that surrounds her in Hawaii. Originally hailing from a small island off the coast of Maine, Megan’s upbringing was immersed in the world of artists and shaped by the captivating vistas of jagged coastlines and gray, foggy mornings.

A graduate of Dartmouth College in 1985, her life has included many creative endeavors starting with music lessons when she was 5 years old, which she continued to pursue up into college, writing and performing music.  Many different creative pursuits  have held places in her life including writing, sketching, jewelry design and pottery.

Megan embarked on (what turned out to be) a transformative journey from Maine to Hawaii in 2003, which is when she began painting for the first time. She had always been a fan of classical art and realism, and over time, was frustrated that the potential for art study was so limited on the island of Hawaii.  She began with art books, drawing or painting her way through them in order to improve her technique.  When the opportunity arose in 2019, she was excited to study at the Kipaipai School of Art with Rose Adare, where she completed a rigorous nine-month intensive drawing and painting atelier steeped in the classical style.  

She continues to paint even now, splitting her time between her farm on the Big Island, Paradise Meadows, and her house in Las Vegas where she is currently working on a large installation project focused on the Southwest.
